Dar es Salaam. Defending champions of the Tanzanian Premier League, Yanga SC, have avenged their first-round defeat by securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Tabora United at the Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora.

In the 21st minute, Israel Patrick Mwenda opened the scoring for Yanga with a well-taken free kick that found the back of the net, showcasing his prowess in set pieces.
The first half ended with Yanga leading 1-0, having dominated possession with 59 percent compared to Tabora United’s 41 percent.
Yanga also had two shots on target, while Tabora United managed just one.
The second half saw Tabora United pushing for an equalizer, but their attacking efforts were thwarted by Yanga’s solid defensive line, which remained resolute throughout the match.
In the 57th minute, Clement Mzize extended Yanga’s lead after finishing off a well-worked move, demonstrating once again why he is one of the league’s top strikers this season.
Eleven minutes later, Prince Dube sealed the victory with a goal in the 68th minute, proving his worth as a lethal forward.
This win widened the gap between Yanga and their closest rivals, Simba SC, from one point to four. Yanga now leads the league standings with 61 points, while Simba, who have a game in hand, remain on 57 points.
Yanga’s performance in the second round of the league has been impressive, with improved ball control and disciplined attacking play, which were evident in this match.
On the individual scoring chart, both Dube and Mzize now have 11 goals each, just one goal behind Simba’s Charles Jean Ahoua, who leads with 12 goals.
