Dar es Salaam. CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe is set to visit Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda this week as part of his official duties.

His visit underscores the growing importance of East Africa in African football development and preparations for key continental tournaments.

In Kenya, Dr Motsepe will meet with key stakeholders in football, including officials from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and government representatives.

The discussions are expected to focus on the country’s readiness to host CHAN matches, infrastructure development, and strategies to strengthen the local football ecosystem.

Uganda will also host Dr Motsepe during his tour. Known for its passionate football culture, Uganda is a vital player in East African football.

The CAF President’s visit will highlight the country’s progress in organizing CHAN and its potential to host more CAF events in the future.

Tanzania, a football powerhouse in the region, is also on the agenda. Dr. Motsepe will assess the country’s preparations for CHAN, focusing on stadium readiness, training facilities, and fan engagement strategies. Meetings with the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and government leaders will be central to his visit.

Rwanda marks the final stop of his tour. Having previously hosted CHAN in 2016, Rwanda has a track record of successful tournament organization.

Dr Motsepe’s visit will likely include discussions on leveraging this experience to support regional football growth.

The President’s visit comes at a crucial time, as CAF seeks to elevate the standards of football infrastructure and competition across the continent. His direct involvement reflects the organization’s commitment to ensuring CHAN meets international standards.

In addition to inspecting facilities, Dr Motsepe is expected to engage with local football communities, offering support and encouragement to players, coaches, and administrators. This aligns with CAF’s broader mission to use football as a tool for unity and development.

Dr Motsepe’s tour of East Africa signifies a new chapter for football in the region.

By prioritizing personal engagement and collaboration, CAF aims to leave a lasting impact that benefits not only CHAN, but also the long-term future of African football.
