TPSF: A unified vision for a prosperous 2025

Dar es Salaam. As the first light of 2025 broke across the vast landscapes of Tanzania on Wednesday, a sense of excitement and renewal filled the air, heralding a new chapter for the nation’s private sector.

This was not just the dawn of a new year; it marked a pivotal moment for the private sector across the entire nation.

Mr Raphael Maganga, the CEO of the Tanzania Private Sector Federation (TPSF), was ready to share an inspiring message that would set the tone for the year ahead.

In his message, he expressed, “Dear partners and friends,” conveying his thoughts with steady conviction.

“On behalf of the Chairperson, the Board of TPSF, and our dedicated management team, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your continued partnership and commitment to fostering the growth of the private sector in Tanzania.”

He reflected on the historic transformation that took place in 2024 as TPSF completed its evolution after 25 years.

“This transition is more than a rebranding; it represents our aspiration to unify all private sector associations across the country under one common voice,” he explained.

Adding: “It signifies our commitment to inclusivity, coordination, and enhanced advocacy for every sector.”

Mr Maganga proudly shared that Tanzania’s economy had grown at an average rate of 5.4 percent in 2024, with notable advancements in agriculture, manufacturing, transport, logistics, and banking.

“While this growth is commendable, we must aim higher. Our goal is to achieve over 10 percent GDP growth—a vision that depends on prioritizing private sector-led initiatives and creating a conducive business environment as we move toward Vision 2050,” he underscored.

He acknowledged the challenges that had confronted the private sector over the past year: global economic headwinds, inflationary pressures, and supply chain disruptions.

Yet, he emphasized the remarkable resilience demonstrated by businesses across the nation.

“Despite these obstacles, we have remained a key driver of economic stability and innovation,” he asserted, noting how issues like dollar scarcity had been effectively addressed through government interventions.

Additionally, tax administration reforms are currently under review through the Presidential Commission of Tax Reforms, signaling progress in addressing critical issues.

Looking ahead to 2025, Mr Maganga outlined TPSF’s steadfast commitment to several key priorities: driving an inclusive growth agenda, ensuring stability and predictability in policy, empowering Private Sector Organizations (PSOs), enhancing advocacy for a conducive business environment, and streamlining public-private dialogues.

“Achieving these goals will require the active participation of all stakeholders,” he urged.

“Let us embrace 2025 with renewed energy, a shared vision for success, and a commitment to positioning Tanzania as the country with the most conducive business environment in Africa.”

As his words resonated with stakeholders across the country, Mr Maganga concluded with a message of hope and unity.

“Together, let us step into this new year with determination and optimism. Wishing you all a prosperous and fulfilling 2025!”

The statement was met with enthusiasm, reflecting a collective spirit of ambition and readiness for the challenges ahead.

The new year was not just a turning of the calendar; it was a commitment to growth, collaboration, and a brighter future for the private sector across Tanzania.

As the sun set on the first day of 2025, the nation sparkled with potential.

The TPSF had ignited a flame of ambition, inspiring individuals from every corner of Tanzania to contribute to a prosperous future.

United in purpose, the private sector was ready to lead, innovate, and rise together, embodying the true essence of partnership and resilience on the journey ahead.
