Yanga top table with 6-1 win over KenGold

Dar es Salaam. Despite the departure of coach Sead Ramovic, Yanga’s fire in the Premier League remains unshaken as they ruthlessly dismantled KenGold 6-1 today evening, a performance witnessed by their new coach, Hamdi Miloud, who was in the stands.

This victory marked Yanga’s biggest win of the season and came at the KMC Complex stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The attacking duo of Prince Dube and Clement Mzize each scored twice, pushing Yanga’s tally to 28 goals in seven consecutive matches.

The victory, which was Yanga’s 15th of the season, sent them back to the top of the league table with 45 points after 17 matches.

However, goalkeeper Diarra Djigui conceded his first league goal since his only defeat, a 3-1 loss to Tabora United.

KenGold, who had made several high-profile signings in the transfer window, including Bernard Morrison and Obrey Chirwa, failed to impress as they were outplayed throughout the 90 minutes of the game.

This victory sends a strong message to other teams that will face Yanga, demonstrating their formidable attacking capabilities.

In their last seven matches, they’ve scored 28 goals while conceding only three.

Yanga showed their dominance early, taking a 4-0 lead into the halftime break.

They scored their first two goals in the opening six minutes, with Dube netting in the 2nd minute and Mzize adding another in the 6th, both assisted by Stephane Aziz Ki.

KenGold, despite making over ten signings during the January transfer window, appeared unsettled and made numerous glaring mistakes.

In the 38th minute, Pacome Zouzoua added a third for Yanga, finishing a pass from Dube, and Mzize scored his second in the 42nd minute, after goalkeeper Castor Mhagama fumbled a cross from Chadrack Boka.

The second half started with Dube scoring again in the 47th minute, converting a cross from Boka with a header for his seventh goal of the season.

Substitute Duke Abuya scored Yanga’s sixth in the 85th minute, and just a minute later, KenGold’s Seleman Bwenzi produced a stunning goal.

Bwenzi hit a long ball from the restart that caught Djigui off guard, sending the ball into the net and ending Djigui’s clean sheet streak, which had stood at seven.

The game also saw both teams without their head coaches on the bench for the first time this season.

Yanga, having parted ways with Sead Ramovic and appointed Hamdi Miloud, was led by Abdihamid Moallin, who had been introduced as the club’s technical director in November.

KenGold, whose head coach, Vladislav Heric, lacked the necessary permits, was led by assistant coach Omary Kapilima.

With this win, Yanga remained at the top of the Premier League with 45 points, while KenGold stayed at the bottom with just six points. Mzize, with nine goals, led the top scorers’ chart, followed by Elvis Rupia of Singida Black Stars with eight.

Dube and Pacome both have seven goals.
