Tanzania to host high-level cybersecurity forum in Arusha

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania is intensifying efforts to safeguard its digital infrastructure by hosting a high-level Cybersecurity Forum in Arusha, a move that underscores the country’s growing commitment to fortifying cyber resilience amid escalating global threats.

The two-day forum, scheduled for April 10-11, 2025 at Mount Meru Hotel, will convene government officials, private sector representatives, IT professionals, and international cybersecurity experts.

It is being organised in collaboration with key stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector players, and global cybersecurity bodies.

According to organisers, the event will serve as a platform for strategic dialogue and capacity-building, with a focus on enhancing digital security, sharing best practices, and addressing emerging threats in the digital space.

“The rapid digital transformation in Tanzania and across Africa has created new opportunities but also introduced sophisticated cyber risks. This summit provides a crucial platform for knowledge-sharing, capacity-building, and collaboration to ensure a safer cyberspace,” said director general of the ICT Commission, Dr Nkundwe Mwasaga.

Held under the theme Transforming Resilience and Countering Threats in Digital Economy, the forum will feature a series of keynote addresses from leading cybersecurity experts and senior government officials.

These will be complemented by panel discussions on cyber threats, policy frameworks, and response mechanisms.

Participants will also benefit from technical workshops and live demonstrations showcasing advanced security solutions.

In addition, the event will provide networking opportunities for stakeholders to explore partnerships and collaborative frameworks aimed at reinforcing Tanzania’s cyber defences.

The initiative aligns with the country’s broader digital agenda, which seeks to create a secure and inclusive digital economy.

As the frequency and complexity of cybercrime incidents grow, authorities are urging both public and private sector actors to adopt proactive measures in protecting sensitive data and critical digital infrastructure.

The ICT Commission, which is spearheading the forum, reiterated its commitment to building a robust digital ecosystem.

The government agency is tasked with accelerating digital transformation, enhancing digital literacy, and supporting innovation through policy coordination and stakeholder engagement.

With cyber threats posing significant risks to national development, the Arusha forum is expected to chart a path forward for improved coordination and resilience across Tanzania’s digital landscape.
