Dar es Salaam. The Land Transport Regulatory Authority (Latra) has continued to attract the attention of key stakeholders and the general public at the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), where it is showcasing cutting-edge digital systems aimed at transforming the country’s land transport sector.
During a special educational session held on July 7, 2025, Latra Director General CPA Habibu Suluo took the opportunity to engage with visiting students at the Latra Pavilion, located at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Grounds.
He provided in-depth insights into two major innovations, the Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) and the Passenger Information System (PIS), both of which are designed to enhance safety, transparency, and access to real-time transport data.
CPA Suluo elaborated on LAtra’s core mandate and the vital role it plays in regulating land transport services.
He urged the students to embrace the knowledge they had acquired and to actively report any challenges they may encounter while using public transport services.
“This kind of engagement is crucial in raising awareness among young people about their rights and responsibilities in the transport ecosystem,” he noted.
Earlier, on July 5, 2025, Permanent Secretary in the ministry of Transport, Prof Godius Kahyarara, visited the LAtra Pavilion and commended the authority for its effective oversight and innovative digital solutions.
He specifically lauded the implementation of the PIS and other smart regulatory tools that are improving operational efficiency and service delivery across the sector.
The Latra Pavilion has remained a key point of interest for visitors seeking information on regulatory functions, safety standards, and digital innovations in land transport.
The ongoing 49th DITF, held under the theme Sabasaba International Trade Fair, Tanzania’s Pride, runs from June 28 to July 13, 2025, at the Julius Nyerere Grounds.
