Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan, arrived back in the country on Saturday, 6th June 2026, successfully concluding her official state visit to the Russian Federation.
Upon her arrival, President Samia was formally received at the airport by Vice President Emmanuel Nchimbi alongside other high-ranking government officials.
The return marks the completion of a high-profile diplomatic and economic mission, climaxing with the President’s address to the plenary session of the 29th St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2026) on Friday evening.

Speaking before a high-level audience of global leaders, business executives, and international investors on Friday June 5, 2026, President Samia championed Africa’s robust economic trajectory, urging global powers to move past outdated perspectives of the continent.
She noted that the ongoing profound economic, technological, and geopolitical shifts demand that nations actively uphold business ties and enhance partnerships for shared prosperity.
During her address, the President emphasized that Africa now represents some of the world’s most resilient growth patterns, driven by a fast-growing population, expanding consumer markets, and deep regional integration via the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTAl).

“The question before the international community is no longer whether Africa will grow, but who will partner with Africa in shaping that growth,” President Samia remarked, signaling the continent’s readiness for high-value global engagement.
Turning the focus to domestic developments, President Samia positioned Tanzania as a prime investment destination and a strategic gateway to the broader African market.
She highlighted the country’s sustained macroeconomic stability and its unique geographical advantage, which offers regional market access to more than 500 million people across Eastern and Southern Africa.
To sustain this momentum, President Samia detailed massive national investments in foundational infrastructure, such as the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), the expansion of the Dar es Salaam Port, and major transport corridors designed to bolster regional and international trade.

The Tanzanian leader invited international financiers to explore extensive opportunities in critical sectors, including mining, mineral beneficiation, agriculture, energy, oil and gas, manufacturing, logistics, and digital technologies.
She stressed that the government is actively implementing Vision 2050, which places a heavy focus on industrialisation, innovation, productivity, and private sector-led growth.
Bilateral relations between Tanzania and Russia were also a key focus of the visit, with both nations reaffirming their commitment to deepening cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, education, and technology transfer.
Before concluding her tour, President Samia expressed her appreciation to the government of the Russian Federation and the organizers of SPIEF 2026 for providing a critical platform for international dialogue.

Reaffirming her administration’s commitment to creating a highly predictable and enabling environment for foreign capital, the President delivered a clear message to the international community.
“Tanzania is open for business. Tanzania is open for investment. Tanzania is open for innovation. And Tanzania is ready to work with all partners who share our commitment to sustainable and inclusive development,” she said.
